In a rare public appearance since his stroke last year, Randy Travis was all smiles as he attended Dolly Parton’s concert in Thackerville, Oklahoma, on Saturday.
During the show, Parton gave Travis, 55, a special shout-out.
“There are some people you just love and admire for their talents. Tonight, one of those people are here,” she said. “Randy Travis, wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying the show.”
Travis later joined country singer Janie Fricke and Parton, 68, backstage.
“It was so great to have Randy at my show,” Parton tells PEOPLE. “He was looking good and doing great.”
Travis was discharged from the hospital and relocated to a physical therapy facility last July after undergoing brain surgery following the stroke. He was also treated for heart failure after contracting a viral infection.
Nashville’s brightest stars rallied around the ailing “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer, sending him their well wishes as he recovered from his health problems.
“I always feel like he’s part of our family, he’s in our family,” Keith Urban said at the time.
