Charles Esten, the star of the network’s show Nashville, is set to host the fan-voted awards show this year.

“I’m thrilled and honored to get to host this great event,” Esten, 51, said in a statement. “Everybody knows that CMT has a special connection with country music and the incredible fans that love it so much. That connection is why our show, Nashville, now has a perfect home on the network.”

Adding, “It’s also why there is no other show quite like the CMT Music Awards. It’s a show fully dedicated to the fans and an annual chance for them to place their votes for their favorite artists. Besides always being flat-out fun, it’s also always been a stage for magical musical moments – and a place where some of country’s biggest legends have been made.”

Fans will also be treated to a number of showstopping collaborations you can’t find anywhere else. The Chainsmokers and Florida Georgia Line will team up, possibly to perform their duet “Last Day Alive.”

Lady Antebellum is also slated to perform with the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire. Country music royalty Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will perform live together — a first for the duo on any CMT stage.

As if that wasn’t enough, Luke Bryan will recruit the help of Jason Derulo for a special performance while Peter Frampton and Brothers Osbourne join together live for the first time.

Country superstars Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley will join forces in a tribute to Gregg Allman, who died last month.

What About the Nominees?

Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett top the nominations with four each — and they’ll all go head-to-head for the top prize of the night: video of the year.

Carrie Underwood, who currently holds the most “CMT Music Awards” wins (with a stunning 15 trophies!), earned three nominations this year.

A complete list of this year’s nominees is available here.

The nominations for the 2017 CMT Music Awards were announced on May 9, but the winners are determined by fans’ votes.
