Music legend Randy Travis took to the CMA Awards stage on Wednesday night to sing the last line of his hit, “Forever and Ever, Amen,” three years after suffering from a stroke.

The 57-year-old appeared on stage with other country singers such as Reba McEntire,  Carrie UnderwoodBrad Paisley and a slew of other stars, singing the last line while audience members applauded.

While the crooner’s voice didn’t soar like it once used to, the emotional moment was a reminder of the strength he has exuded since he suffered a massive stroke in 2013.

Travis was honored in mid-October when he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, where he captivated the audience by singing a brief verse of “Amazing Grace.”

He received a similarly emotional response during the CMA Awards. Miranda Lambert wiped away tears as Nicole Kidman pumped her hands in the air.
