Taylor Swift may love the No. 13, but it has proven to be no friend to Chris Young.

After hosting over 500 fans at his 13th annual fan club party Thursday night aboard the General Jackson showboat in Nashville, the singer returned home and cut his hand while making himself a late-night dinner.

He was taken immediately to a Nashville-area hospital where doctors assessed his injury. As a result, Young canceled his planned four-hour fan autograph session scheduled for Friday during the CMA Music Festival.

He is expected to make a full recovery and will return to the stage Saturday night for his performance at LP Field.

Young had a feeling something might go wrong. Earlier in the night PEOPLE Country asked him how he felt about hosting his 13th bash for fans. “It makes me feel old, but it also makes me really nervous because it’s an unlucky number,” Young said. “So far we said hello to all the fans, took photos with everyone, got on the boat and the boat is in the water moving steady, we’ve just got to get through the rest of the night, so don’t jinx it!”

We swear Chris, it wasn’t us!
