An Orlando couple, who ordered 27-gallon plastic storage bins from Amazon, were shocked to receive a 65-pound shipment of marijuana along with their original purchase.

When the customers, who wish to remain anonymous for safety reasons, received their delivery they were surprised by its heft.  “They were extremely heavy, heavier than you would think from ordering four empty bins,” one of them told local news station WFTV. The staggering weight of the shipment prompted them to call authorities: “When the first officer got here she was in disbelief.”

The couple took extra precautions because they feared drug smugglers would discover their identities and location. “We were still pretty fearful our home would be broken into, and we didn’t sleep there for a few days,” one half of the pair said.

The Orlando Police Department is working with law enforcement in Massachusetts, where the package originated via UPS, according to public information officer Sgt. Eduardo J. Bernal. Amazon is assisting investigators and recently sent a $150 gift certificate to the couple for their troubles.  “Our customer service team worked directly with the customer to address concerns and will work with law enforcement to investigate the case, as needed,” the company said in a statement.

The couple, who frequently shop Amazon, expect a formal apology from the online retailer and clear explanation for how it happened.
