A few days after releasing the music video for their new song “No Promises,” electronic dance group Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato performed the single for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week.

Lovato and the group’s lead singer Trevor Dahl flirtatiously danced and sang across the stage with multiple intimate moments throughout the performance. The most attention-grabbing moment was at the finale when the two singers got closer and closer until their lips were inches apart.

Check out their performance below:

As fun and flirty as the performance was, there was also a lot of thinking that went into Lovato’s outfit. “We wanted to keep the look in the same vein of the ‘No Promises’ music video, which was set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Her look [in the video] had a similar tough-but-sexy vibe,” her stylist Avo Yermagyan told Billboard. “We went with the silhouette of a crop top and high-wasted trousers because it helps exude her toughness while maintaining her allure.”

Lovato recently faced backlash for cultural appropiration after allegedly wearing dreadlocks in the “No Promises” music video. In reponse, she took to social media to clarify that her hair wasn’t actually in dreads. ‘They were twists not dreads. #relax,” she tweeted with an eye-rolling Emoji.

Fans can expect to see more music from the 24-year-old who confirmed that a new album is on the way this year. However, it won’t be the same Lovato from her past music as she experiments with R&B for the sixth studio album.
