Malin Akerman, who plays the superhero The Silk Spectre in the upcoming Watchmen flick, says she’s done a heroic thing or two in her real life.

“When I was about 13, I was in sailing camp in Sweden and a guy on my boat was hit in the head with the boom,” the Swedish starlet says in Women’s Health‘s March issue. “He fell into the water headfirst. I jumped in and turned him over so he could breathe.”

Despite the brave showing as a teenager, Akerman, 30, says that she “felt like an 80-year-old woman” while training for her latest role.

Superpowers aside, the actress, who starred alongside Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses finds comfort her musician husband Roberto Zincone.

“I wouldn’t have made it past the first round of American Idol auditions,” Akerman says of her singing ability. So, she explains, “I went back to acting, but kept my husband,” whom she married in 2007 after playing in his band, the Petalstones

“I really hit the jackpot,” she continues. “Roberto is so accepting and supportive. People would say, ‘I’ll give the two of you five years.’ But it gets better and better every day.”
