Tiger Woods vs. Bob May at the PGA Championship drew the event’s highest preliminary TV ratings on record. About 10 million TV households tuned in to CBS’s coverage of Sunday’s suspenseful final round, when Woods finally put away May in a three-hole playoff. That’s about 30% more households than watched last year’s PGA, when Woods beat Spanish sensation Sergio Garcia. The 1999 rating was said to have been the best for a final round PGA since 1986.
