Mixing work and play?

As Tiger Woods prepares for Thursday’s British Open kick-off, he was joined for a practice round Monday by his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn.

Although it’s a bit unusual to spot a significant other on the green, the Olympic skier, 28, has all the time in the world for her beau as she recovers from knee surgery.

“I’m just in the gym right now, so I can be anywhere. I’m not skiing until September,” she told PEOPLE last month. “It’s been great. We haven’t really been apart that much.”

As the No. 1 player in the world, Woods, 37, doesn’t need much feedback on his game – not that Vonn would offer any.

“We talk golf after his golf rounds, but mostly I listen,” she told the New York Times in June. “We really are normal in that way. Lots of people go home and talk to their wife or husband about their job. That s what we do.”

That’s not to say Vonn would mind a little recognition for her own accomplishments.

“Some people seem to forget that I’m not just Tiger s girlfriend,” she adds. “I’m actually a successful athlete. I’m Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life.”
