Doris Day, 76, has talked of re-entering the picture business for years now, but that still doesn’t seem likely. The ’60s box-office favorite, however, is an avid animal rights activist and her northern California based Doris Day Animal Foundation is gearing up for an event scheduled to be held next Feb. 27, “Spay Day USA,” reports Variety. The purpose of the event will be to educate people of the importance of neutering animals, in order to control th e pet population. Name of the day — Feb. 27, that is, not Doris — will be “2001: a Spay Odyssey.”
