Not that he’s expected to become a spokesperson for Weight Watchers anytime soon, but Tobey Maguire’s girth has been the subject of undue interest lately.
The actor, 27, has been a yo-yo on the scales in order to prepare for several movie roles. Last year, he bulked up for “Spider-Man,” and then he dieted down to next to nothing for his jockey role in the upcoming horse drama “Seabiscuit” — only to buff up again for next summer’s “Spider-Man 2,” which has been shooting around New York.
The star tells MTV News, “Coming off of ‘Seabiscuit’ and going into ‘Spider-Man,’ it’s different physically. I had to put on some weight and I didn’t have a lot of time to train, I just changed my diet and my workout routine.”
Maguire’s regimen, he says, has been a combo of cardio, weights and yoga. Furthermore, he says the shape thing hasn’t been that much of a sweat.
“I’m a vegetarian,” he said. “It can be a little tedious sometimes. You’re eating more than you’d like to eat or you’re not working out as much as you’d like. But it’s fine.”
