Fans will be welcomed back to The O.C. early this year, thanks to a pair of FOX specials aimed at keeping obsessed viewers happy until the prime-time soap’s Nov. 4 season premiere.
To keep the drama’s profile high – as well as highlight its move to Thursday nights at 8 – FOX plans to broadcast two hourlong O.C. specials on Sept. 16 and 23, Variety reports.
The specials will feature new appearances from every member of the show’s cast – including heartthrobs Adam Brody and Benjamin McKenzie, and their female counterparts Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson – as well as series creator Josh Schwartz. The shows will document (in one of the hours) how The O.C. so quickly influenced fashion, music and other aspects of pop culture.
The second special will be a behind-the-scenes look at the show on a day-to-day basis, as well as a sneak peak at the second season.
FOX has used this special formula before, on Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Party of Five and even Ally McBeal.
Also expect to see a heavy O.C. Internet presence and promos tied to the release of a new O.C. soundtrack CD and the release of the show’s first season on DVD.
