For nearly 15 years – starting when she was 25 – Teri Hatcher has been hiding the gray, she admits. And now she is going to get very loud about it.

The Desperate Housewives star is the new spokeswoman for Clairol’s Nice ‘n Easy hair color in its print and TV ads. Even she seems slightly surprised by the gig.

“In all my career, in my ups and downs, I’ve never had a beauty campaign. This was meaningful that at almost 41 years old, I could be getting my first beauty campaign,” Hatcher tells the Associated Press.

Being picked to head a campaign that in earlier decades was repped by Linda Evans of Dynasty and previously Julia Louis-Dreyfus of Seinfeld “made me feel really great,” says Hatcher. As for being fussed over on the day of her photo shoot so she looked perfect: “My daughter is much more important to me than how I look that day.”
