When you hear this sound, what do you think of?
If you’re over the age of 20, it’s unmistakable. But if you’re younger, guess what? It sounds like dubstep.
That’s just one of the revelations from the latest video in the Fine Brothers‘ "React" series, in which the YouTube stars sat a bunch of today’s teens down to watch a "Kids’ Guide to the Internet" from 1997.
Sure, there’s the requisite amount of mockery for the spot’s bad acting and worse fashions – the same thing that happens any time you introduce a teen to something they’re unfamiliar with. But the kids were also left with a deeper understanding of the amount of technology they took for granted; the very idea of needing to know how the Internet worked was baffling to them.
As one teen put it, “I don’t know how a camera works, or a fridge, or a sink – they’re just there, you just use them.”
But at least they’ve got perspective. At the end of the segment, nearly every teen admitted that the kids of 20 years from now will probably laugh at them too.
