Not that we have anything against Melissa Benoist, but is it too late to add another cast member to Supergirl?

Nineteen-year-old Charlotte Heffelmire is being hailed as a hero in her hometown of Vienna, Virginia, and understandably so. Just a few days after Thanksgiving, her father was working on his truck when a series of freak accidents left him pinned under the burning vehicle.

“I was on my back, face up, and I was trying to get some corroded brakes lines when apparently the jack slipped and fell down on me.” Eric Heffelmire told WUSA9. “Pinned me across right here on my shoulder.” After some gas ignited, he says, “I thought they’d be pulling out a dead body later in the evening.”

But Charlotte, home for Thanksgiving break, came to her father’s rescue.

She says she still can’t explain how she was able to lift the burning truck off her father, but even more incredible is that she was able to drive the burning truck out of the garage, close the garage door to contain the flames, then walk back into the burning home and retrieve the rest of her family, including her sister’s baby.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue gave Charlotte a Citizen Lifesaving Award, but she remains low-key about her actions.

“I just did what I had to do, so I don’t feel like a big hero or anything,” she said.
