Susan Sarandon must be getting really good at ping-pong.
The Oscar winner, 63, frequently has been hitting the New York City ping-pong club SPiN, in which she is an investor, since her recently announced split from actor Tim Robbins, 51, her companion of 23 years. And she is often spotted chatting with Jonathan Bricklin, 32, a handsome SPiN co-investor whom she’s rumored to be dating. (Both she and Bricklin have denied a romance.)
On Tuesday night, she and Bricklin were both at SPiN and spent time talking closely – but didn’t show any overt signs of being more than friends.
Dressed down in jeans and sneakers, Sarandon typically hangs with locals, watches tournaments, chats with patrons and even picks up stray ping-pong balls. “She certainly doesn’t look 63,” says one observer.
New romance or no, Sarandon is clearly enjoying herself these days. When she turned up at Manhattan’s Standard Hotel on Jan. 12 to tape a charity spot for the HIV/AIDS relief group MASSIVEGOOD, a local photographer shouted, “A lot of guys are happy to hear that you’re single!”
Sarandon, holding her Pomeranian Maltese, Penny, smiled and replied, “I’m happy to hear that.”
The actress will have to put ping-pong on hold in the coming days as she heads to Los Angeles for the Television Critics Association conference, where she is expected to promote her upcoming HBO film You Don’t Know Jack, a biopic of controversial physician Dr. Jack Kevorkian.
