In a survey of college students who were asked to name their dream dorm mate, the roomie of choice – and by a large margin – is Kelly Ripa.

The poll, taken over two weeks last month, showed that 32 percent of the respondents were ready to help the 34-year-old morning chat host and Hope & Faith star move in. But only 1 percent wanted Ripa’s Live cohort Regis Philbin in an adjoining bed.

“College students love Kelly Ripa,” says George Scott, the CEO of Educational Housing Services, which conducted the poll and provides private off-campus housing for New York students.

“One of the things students say they most want to do while living in New York City is to meet celebrities. A third of our residents would love to have the opportunity to meet Kelly. Sorry Regis, maybe next year,” adds Scott, according to the Associated Press.

If Ripa isn’t available, other dream roommates, in descending order of preference, are Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Tony Danza.

In response to another question on the survey – about which celebrities they’d like to escort them around New York – the winner by a whopping margin of 47 percent was Sarah Jessica Parker.

Trailing Parker, by a longshot, was Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, with 15 percent of the vote. The Top Five were rounded out by Jerry Seinfeld, Derek Jeter and Jennifer Lopez.

Finally, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg received only one vote – despite the fact that as a billionaire, Bloomberg would probably be good for springing for a few pizzas.
