PUT A RING ON IT
The bride wore her mother's original wedding ring as her "something old" (and borrowed). "My mom got married when she was 17, so it is just tiny and dainty and beautiful," Johnson tells PEOPLE. "And it's special because they've been married 39 years. So it's very sentimental." The bride's own band is a custom designed, made of white gold with seven diamonds.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
"Rustic elegance was what we were going for," says Sara Fried of Fete Nashville, the couple's wedding planner. "It was in this gorgeous barn and there were flowers hanging everywhere over the head table and perfect exposed bulbs lighting. It wasn't overdone and it was very Shawn."

Guests waved more than 300 sparklers as the couple left. "People were hooting and hollering and we did a dip kiss right in the middle of it all!" says East. "And then we got in a 1960s Rolls Royce, which was amazing."

Johnson's nine bridesmaids "are a very lively group," she says. "Our bridal party started out as 5 each and then he'd add one and I'd have to add two cause I couldn't add one person and not the other. But they are people who truly mean a lot to us so to have them share in this day is important."

"We wanted to make the head table feel really special and intimate," says Fete Nashville's Fried. "The barn had really high ceilings so we had a 25 foot ladder constructed and we hung that from the ceiling and covered it with hanging flowers." Fried laid the tables with vintage lace and mixed in contemporary candles. Centerpieces were French urns filled with flowers and greenery.

Though she's a former Dancing with the Stars champ, Johnson kept the first dance ( to Josh Garrels's "Heaven's Knife") simple. "We didn't want to be trying to remember choreography and not enjoy the moment," she says.

LET THEM EAT CAKE!
The 7-layer confection, by Nashville's Dulce Desserts, stood as tall as the bride and had four different flavors. "We were really excited about our cake!" Johnson says.
