"It's not your typical singing show," Lisa Rinna tells PEOPLE of ABC's Sing Your Face Off. Ain't that the truth: The series, which premieres May 31, takes five celebs (Rinna included) and every week, transforms them each into a musical icon – hair, makeup, voice, dance moves and all. Judges like Debbie Gibson and Darrell Hammond keep score, but "no one's competing to have the best voice," Rinna explains. "You're competing to be the best impersonator, really." Read on to see the first round of amazing transformations.

LISA AS DOLLY
It's not exactly "9 to 5," but Rinna's new gig looks pretty sweet: In one episode of Sing Your Face Off, the actress imitates Parton with a big blonde wig, sparkly mini and, well, you know. "They made these prosthetic boobs for me – they literally glue them on your chest," Rinna says. "Once I put the boobs on, it all became very real. The boobs are everything."

CHINA ANNE AS RIHANNA
"Only Girl" in the world? Not quite! Rihanna gets a double in the form of Disney star McClain, who had to master the singer's accent in this transformation. But it's a cakewalk compared to what's next: In upcoming episodes, stars might have to mimic singers of different genders. Regardless, McClain is up to the challenge. "She's only 14, so she doesn't even know some of these people," Rinna says. That makes her ability to imitate them "quite tremendous."

LANDRY AS LIONEL
Well, "Hello!" Toronto Raptors star Fields trades in his basketball for a microphone to channel his inner Richie, and the results look smashing: His red leather pants and Afro are giving us serious '80s flashbacks. Rinna agrees, giving high marks to Fields. "He probably surprised me more than anyone – I was blown away," she says, adding that the 25-year-old "probably doesn't even know who Lionel Richie was. [But] you do your homework and you watch a lot of YouTube."

SEBASTIAN AS ADAM
Let's hope he has moves like Jagger ... er, Levine. Sure, Bach has singing experience – he scored hits in the late '80s and early '90s as part of the heavy metal band Skid Row – but Rinna says it wasn't easy for the rocker to mimic the smooth-as-silk Maroon 5 crooner (PEOPLE's reigning Sexiest Man Alive). The biggest challenge? Losing his long locks, even temporarily. "It was very hard for him to give up his hair," Rinna reveals. "He had to have a bald cap put on and then had to have the Adam Levine wig put on."

JON AS ELTON
Saturday Night Live alumnus Lovitz blasts off as John, complete with a glitzy white suit, plumed top hat and red-tinted sunglasses. "It's hilarious," Rinna says. "It's Elton John with the glasses – you've got the piano, you've got all of it." We can only imagine who Lovitz will have to channel next; future episodes will see the contestants mimic the likes of Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and even opera great Luciano Pavarotti.
