Grammy’s comeback kid, Carlos Santana, 53 has launched a new line of women’s shoes that “radiate rhythm, passion and energy,” say publicity materials for the footwear, which debuted Wednesday at the San Francisco Macy’s store. Called “Carlos,” the fashion line also includes Santana-labeled hats and neckties. The shoes, in 13 various styles, consist of open toed, sling-backed and various high-heeled models. Fashionistas may recall that the late Jerry Garcia, of the Grateful Dead, had his own fashion line. And rock scholars may recall that Santana was mentored by Garcia before he formed his own band, Santana, in 1969. (Santana’s 1999 album, “Supernatural,” sold more than 10 million copies and swept the following year’s Grammys.) Proceeds from the sale of the clothing line are said to be going to an education foundation set up by Santana in 1998.
