One of the only sketches that Ryan Gosling didn’t giggle the whole way through during his Saturday Night Live hosting gig didn’t even make the show.

In a newly released sketch that was cut from SNL because the show was out of time, Gosling donned ’90s attire while seemingly channeling an episode of sitcom Family Matters.

Gosling and SNL star Beck Bennett played friends who pick on their dorky neighbor Dougie (Kyle Mooney) in the clip.

Just like in the 1993 Family episode “Dr. Urkel and Mr. Cool,” Dougie attempted to get in Bennett and Gosling’s character’s good graces by transforming himself into a cool guy with a machine.

The quirky operation is a success, and, much like Steve Urkel’s character became Stefan Urquelle, Dougie transformed into Doug .

While Doug enjoyed his newer, cooler persona, not everyone was so lucky. Watch the silly clip to see Gosling’s (untimely) fate.
