Reporters and neighbors with well-tuned ears have been hearing wedding bells — well, rehearsal wedding bells — over the past few days on groom-to-be Russell Crowe’s spread at Coffs Harbour, on the mid-North Coast of Australia, according to published accounts from Down Under.
Yes, it’s all practice until Monday, when the Oscar-winning “Gladiator” star celebrates his 39th birthday by saying “I do” to his fianc e, Australian actress-singer Danielle Spencer.
As the Sydney Morning Herald and others reported earlier this week, Italian designer icon Giorgio Armani already made the long flight from Milan to help fit the wedding party into their fancy duds, while family members, including parents of the bride and groom, also showed up to help with the festivities.
Despite the insistence of Crowe publicist Wendy Day that there would be no Hollywood names at this weekend’s three-day wedding celebration, “Gladiator” director Ridley Scott was spotted at the local airport along with his statuesque companion, Giannina Facio, the Herald reports.
Asked by the paper how long he felt Crowe and Spencer would last as a married couple, Scott said: “Forever.”
The celebrations apparently commenced Thursday night as klieg lights and flames illuminated the skies around Crowe’s property.
The Herald asked local Jean Maher, who runs a vineyard near the property, if Crowe had made any purchases from her winery. She replied: “I’d say he was a bit of a beer drinker, wouldn’t you?”
