“I think I was ready for it,” Brand, 35, says of married life in Redbook‘s April issue, on newsstands March 15. “If you’re wild, like a wild animal, marriage won’t contain you. I think that’s how a lot of people get into trouble.”
Brand will soon star in a remake of the comedy Arthur, about a man who gives up a vast fortune for love – and says that’s something he can imagine himself doing.
“I would never give up love; I’d definitely give up money,” he says. “I feel quite lucky – now that I’m married, I have this great love and partnership in my life that is the most important thing to me. I also happen to be married to a girl who is quite a lot of fun.”
He adds: “I’m discovering how lovely permanence and building an ongoing relationship can be, rather than always thinking, What’s next?”
Asked what he and his pop-star wife, 26, like to do on a typical date, Brand says it’s really nothing special. “If you take away the things that glisten on the surface, like fame, our dates are really no different from yours or anyone else’s,” he says. “Dinner and a movie!”
