Ruby Rose and Phoebe Dahl have ended their engagement, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Rose tweeted a positive message to Dahl Monday night, and Dahl responded in kind.
“@FAIRCLOTHSUPPLY remains very dear to my heart,” the star wrote. “I will forever treasure our time together. I’m a better person because of all we shared.”
Dahl tweeted, “@RubyRose you have brought me to my best and I will always love you. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for us.”
A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that it was an amicable split and that their relationship couldn’t sustain the travel their professional lives required, because it forced them to be apart too much.
The Orange Is the New Black star and the designer (and granddaughter of author Roald Dahl) were engaged in March 2014, with Rose revealing on Instagram at the time that she had asked Dahl to get married three times previously.
Rose, who broke out as inmate Stella Carlin on season three of Orange, previously told PEOPLE she was expecting to have a large wedding.

“As it turns out we love being engaged, and I love the word ‘fiancée.’ It’s actually nice that we do wait that extra year and get to enjoy being engaged before we ball-and-chain it,’ the Australian model and actress, 29, told PEOPLE in June.
Rose has upcoming roles on the big screen in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and John Wick 2 opposite Keanu Reeves.
