Roy Horn Returns, Briefly, to Vegas Stage

Posted on

Just shy of the two-year anniversary of his horrific onstage incident with a tiger, illusionist Roy Horn made a slow, unassisted stroll into a Las Vegas theater – his first return to such an arena since his near-fatal encounter.

Horn – accompanied by his partner, Siegfried Fischbacher, and casino mogul Steve Wynn – “methodically” walked about 100 yards into the Thursday evening performance of the show Avenue Q at the new Wynn Las Vegas resort, Bernie Yuman, longtime manager of the now-shuttered Siegfried & Roy show, tells the Associated Press.

Horn, who was partially paralyzed when a 600-lb. white tiger attacked him and dragged him by the neck during a Siegfried & Roy performance, has been walking without the aid of a rolling walker after months of six- to eight-hour days in physical rehabilitation, Yuman said.

The manager also said that Horn and some friends were preparing to mark Horn’s 61st birthday on Oct. 3 – the second anniversary of the attack. “We’re going to continue to celebrate his birthday and his life,” he said.
