New View cohost Rosie O’Donnell may take home her seventh Emmy, while her predecessor, Meredith Vieira, could see gold for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – all thanks to the Daytime Emmy Award nominations, announced Wednesday.
Although the women of ABC’s The View have been in the running for best talk show host nine times without winning, O’Donnell, who won six Emmys for her 1996-2002 The Rosie O’Donnell Show, has the track record to break the jinx.
She’ll have to beat the other nominees: Tyra Banks, Dr. Phil McGraw, Rachael Ray and Lisa Rinna, Ty Treadway of Soap Talk – and Ellen DeGeneres, whose Ellen DeGeneres Show received12 nominations.
CBS will broadcast the Daytime Emmys ceremony from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on June 15 at 9 p.m.
Vieira is a potential double-threat. She could also nab another nomination in the newly established category for morning shows at NBC’s Today – which she has called home since September. Nominations in that category will be announced next month.
