Just in time for both the release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and the 80th anniversary of Prohibition’s repeal, Ron Burgundy’s Scotchy Scotch is here.
While the much-anticipated sequel isn’t due in theaters until Dec. 18, the movie’s official Scotch is in stores now, so there’s plenty of time to hone your Anchorman 2 drinking game before you head to the movies. The Scotch is called Great Odin s Raven Special Reserve, which any Anchorman fan can tell you is a reference to the time Will Ferrell’s character accidentally cursed out the city during a broadcast.
Riviera Imports, the company behind the product, insists that the liquor is “not just for Anchorman fans,” claiming that Ron Burgundy Blended Scotch Whisky isn’t a novelty, even though it started as a joke in the film. According to the brand, it is “a fine Scotch product… crafted and bottled in Scotland from a 60% malt and 40% grain blend by Old St. Andrews Distillery, featuring whiskies from Speyside, Highlands and Islay.”
A 750 ml bottle of the stuff costs about $25, which is far more than a pint of Ben & Jerry’s limited-edition Ron Burgundy s Scotchy Scotch Scotch ice cream, but it does have 100 percent more alcohol.
