Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, who has just entered rehab in an attempt to conquer his troubles with alcohol, admits in a new interview that he “sometimes goes off the rails.”

The rocker, 61, reveals that when his band is not touring, he gets bored – and then is tempted to drink. “I’m more lost when I’m not on tour. I’m in a bit of a muddle at nine o’clock – ‘Where’s the stage?'” he said in an interview in Saturday’s Financial Times. “On tour there are people directing and supervising you … sometimes I get so bored I think I’ll have a drink. I don’t mean any harm but I just go off the rails.”

The interview was carried out just before the reports surfaced that linked the rocker with a 19-year-old Russian waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova. In fact, as the chat – in Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel – was concluding, he received a call on his mobile phone informing him that tabloid journalists were on his tail.

The Rolling Stone left Ireland Tuesday and is believed to have headed straight to a rehab clinic. A rep for the musician said in a statement: “Following Ronnie’s continued battle with alcohol, he has entered a period of rehab. His close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery.”

Despite the turmoil in his private life, Wood told the Financial Times interviewer that he has “never felt better.”
