Renée's Bathroom Moment

Posted on

Renée Zellweger, 31, won the Golden Globe last month for her comedy performance in “Nurse Betty,” and at the ceremony itself she unofficially won the Christine Lahti award, for being in the women’s room when her name was called. As Friday’s Wall Street Journal reported, however, it was USA Networks mogul Barry Diller who yanked Zellweger out of the ladies’ loo and shoved her toward the stage. But he was also responsible for getting her into her situation to begin with. “There was a break, so I said to Renée Zellweger, ‘Let’s go to the bathroom now,’ ” Diller, 59, calling his decision “one of the most inopportune moments of ‘dumb time’ ever,” told the Journal. Then Zellweger’s category came up. Said Diller, “I thought, ‘Well, she probably won’t win.’ And about a second later she did. So I just went in and got her. It was the only thing left to do.”
