The world of nerd culture is a wide-ranging place. So is the world of burlesque. Which means the cognitive dissonance of “Nerdlesque” – where burlesque dancers dress up as their favorite characters from the worlds of comic books, science fiction and fantasy – is actually pretty easy to overcome.

That said, it’s still pretty striking and entertaining. (To wit: The above picture of Lux LaCroix as Rocket Raccoon, from Guardians of the Galaxy.) Enjoy this roundup from RAWR! Burlesque‘s New York Comic Con show, Comic Con Vixens – their second such show – which took place this weekend at the Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of Times Square.

If you’ve ever wanted to see a woman on stilts dance around while dressed as a tree to the sounds of Rush’s “The Trees ” well, you’ve come to the right place.
