Talk about royal weddings – it’s the first Sweden has celebrated since 1976! More than 1,200 guests gathered in the Stockholm Cathedral on Saturday to celebrate the wedding of Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria to her longtime boyfriend and former personal trainer, Daniel Westling.
After exchanging vows in an elaborate ceremony estimated to cost $2 million, the couple – who met eight years ago at the high-end gym Westling, 36, owns – rode through the capital city in a horse-drawn carriage to the cheers of tens of thousands of people, the BBC reports.
King Carl XVI Gustaf proudly gave away his oldest daughter, 32, also first in line to succeed him, exactly 34 years to the day after his own wedding to Queen Silvia.
International royals, including Prince Albert of Monaco and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, showed up to give support for the new royal couple, as Westling gets the title Duke of Vastergotland.
