Apparently, not everyone is ready to accept that Prince William is off the market.
At a London charity event on Wednesday, the betrothed William, 28, was talking on the phone with shipping boss Ben Lundqvist about a crude oil tanker deal when his father, Prince Charles, asked, “Is he offering you a wedding present?”
Of course, that ship has sailed with William and Kate set to get hitched on April 29. And the upcoming wedding was a hot topic at the brokerage firm ICAP as the two princes toured the offices on the annual charity day.
William was cheered as he arrived on the brokers’ floor, and frequently congratulated on his news. When he politely refused a burger offered by one of the staffers, another called out, “He’s got to watch his weight. He’s got a big event next year.”
William also chatted with 29-year-old identical twin models, Stacy and Kelly Franklin – who’d been hired for the day to dress as Santa’s helpers in racy, fur-trimmed outfits – and greeted them by announcing, “This is more like it!” (Charles was equally appreciative, saying, “Everybody take note: You should wear this today.”)
The princes also partook in the more serious matter of fund raising. The revenue from each deal made Wednesday will go to 21 charities, including Prince Charles’s The Prince’s Teaching Institute and the youth charity Skill Force, of which Prince William is Patron.
Across the pond, Sarah Jessica Parker and President Bill Clinton were scheduled to lend their own star power at the ICAP day in New York City on Wednesday.
