Sandra Bullock has made some major decisions over the past few months, like filing for divorce from her husband and adopting her adorable son, Louis.

Now it’s probably time for her to figure out where she and the baby will call home – only, where?

Among the locations Bullock, 45, currently has roots or houses, which could be possibly become a permanent landing spot?

Austin, Texas: Touting the city’s “vibe and energy,” the Oscar winner spends much of her downtime in the capital of the Lone Star State, where she has a lake-front property. It is here that she regularly hangs out with pal (and fellow Austin resident) Matthew McConaughey and owns a few shops, including a bistro and bakery. Still, given that her divorce from Jesse James will be played out here, she might not want to hang around.

Montpelier, Vermont: Family ties have always been important to Bullock, whose sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, resides and runs a bakery in this sleepy New England hamlet (pop. 8,000). The small town also prides itself in being one of the region’s best-known bastions for arts and entertainment.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming: This valley located in the western-central part of the state features breathtaking scenery comprised of mountains, rivers and streams. It is also here that Bullock and her mother, Helga (who died of cancer in 2000), would often stay during the winter holidays. Warm memories and stunning views could make this a possibility.

Germany: America’s sweetheart spent much of her childhood traveling between Arlington, Virginia, and Nuremberg, Germany, where Helga performed as an opera singer. Bullock, who speaks fluent German, has also stated how much she misses her mother: “It took me two years to accept that she’s not here. It doesn’t get easier; it gets harder.” Perhaps that connection (and the seclusion from prying eyes) might make this a good fit.

Tybee Island, Georgia: Bullock reportedly owns several properties on the scenic small island near Savannah (where the population doesn’t even total 4,000), and the locale is relatively close to her native Virginia. This bucolic setting is only about three miles long – and far from the madding crowd.

New York City: The actress has owned a SoHo apartment since 2000, and certainly here she and Louis could blend in nicely with the city’s hustle and bustle. Also, blasé New Yorkers are apt to leave the two of them alone – though Bullock would likely have to negotiate with the paparazzi.

Los Angeles: Now that Bullock has vacated the home she and James shared, the Southland offers plenty of real estate for Sandra to check out. The baby could be around other kids with celebrity parents and would probably only have to worry about the occasional earthquake … and, of course, more paparazzi.

New Orleans: Bullock owns an historic home in the city’s Garden District, and it is in the Big Easy where little Louis (named for NOLA’s favorite son, musician Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong) was born. And perhaps Bullock is already tipping her hand, having told PEOPLE: “New Orleans is [Louis’s] city, and he is going to know it inside and out … its love for music, its love for life.”
