Picture it: Miami, 1984. That’s when NBC premiered the Golden Girls, the beloved sitcom about four older women living together. There was dopey Rose (Betty White), promiscuous Blanche (Rue McClanahan), dating-challenged Dorothy (Bea Arthur) and her sarcastic mom Sophia (Estelle Getty). But as different as the characters were, they all had one thing in common: They could hurl an insult better than anyone.
