No teleprompter, no problem.
New York-based NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander popped the question to fellow journalist and Washington, D.C.-based ABC-7 anchor Alison Starling in Paris Saturday night beneath the Eiffel Tower.
“I fumbled through my first couple lines,” he says, “and then launched right back in. Fortunately, she said yes!”
The now-engaged couple met in 2001 while working as reporters at competing news stations in Seattle. Although they went on one date, their relationship didn’t get serious until they reconnected later on the East Coast.
“She’s fantastic,” he says. “And we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”
The couple are planning a spring wedding.
