QUIT: Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, 52, resigned as an ESPN football commentator late on Wednesday after his comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb drew a blitz of criticism, ESPN said. Limbaugh said before Sunday’s match between the Eagles and the Buffalo Bills that the media wanted McNabb to succeed because he is black. DIED: Robert Kardashian, 59, a businessman and lawyer who was a key figure in the O.J. Simpson drama and part of his legal “dream team,” died Tuesday night at his Los Angeles home eight weeks after being diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, his former wife, Kris Jenner, tells the Associated Press. Simpson camped out at Kardashian’s house in the days after Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman were stabbed to death in 1994. The infamous televised chase involving Simpson in a white Ford Bronco began after he fled Kardashian’s home.

SCHEDULED: An Oct. 28 court date has been set in New York State Supreme Court for former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, 41, in her case against Gruner + Jahr USA (which, in turn, is countersuing her), the publishers of her former magazine, Rosie, reports AP. The magazine shut down last fall after O’Donnell said she was being denied editorial control. G+J said the star acted unprofessionally and sued her for breach of contract.

HONORED: Kevin Bacon, 45, received the 2,238th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday in front of the Ivar/Cinespace Nightclubs, where he and his sibling have performed music as the Bacon Brothers band, reports AP. The “Diner,” “JFK” and the upcoming “Mystic River” star told the crowd on Hollywood Boulevard that he was grateful to have the support of his family, even though they didn’t always understand his acting ambition.
