Orlando Bloom seems to be cozying up to the single life.

It’s been less than two months since the Hobbit star and Miranda Kerr announced their separation. But while Kerr is rumored to have already moved on, it appears Bloom’s taking things a little slower.

He took a night off from daddy duty on Wednesday, enjoying time out with the guys while celebrating his role in his upcoming film.

After attending the New York screening of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, Bloom, 36, along with his friend Mark White and two other pals dropped into The Lambs Club for the after party, hosted by Cinema Society and Montcler.

“He and his friends came in around 10 p.m. before anyone really got there,” a partygoer tells PEOPLE, “He seemed to be in really good spirits, really chatty.”

Despite other celebrity guests like Brooke Shields, Jeremy Piven and Gail Simmons, “He and his friends just kept to themselves in a corner booth,” adds the onlooker.

While dining on chilled crab, roast beef carpaccio and fries, Bloom and friends were joined by British actress/model Sophie Sumner, who sat down to chat with Bloom, says a source. “She had sat next to him during the screening,” says another attendee, “They got to talking a bit, but that’s it.”

The crew apparently called it an early night, leaving the party after 11 p.m.
