Nicki Minaj lost a member of her road crew to a “senseless act of violence” early Wednesday morning, the singer confirmed on social media Wednesday.
“Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly. One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour,” she wrote on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
Billboard reports De’Von “Day Day” Pickett has been confirmed as the man who died, while Eric Parker remains in critical condition.
Minaj, 32, shared a photo of the two men on her Instagram page Wednesday.
“#Rp @myfabolouslife – these guys flew into Philly for my tour rehearsals 2 days ago and were both stabbed last night. #RIPDAYDAY condolences to your family. Unbelievable. Eric (on the right) is recovering. Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy. So sad.”
Police confirm to PEOPLE that the stabbing happened after the two men were involved in an argument inside Che’ Bar & Grill in Philadelphia’s West Oak neighborhood at about 2:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The argument then spilled outside and one man pulled out a knife, NBC News-10 reports. It does not name Parker, but quotes a Philadelphia police inspector who said the victim who survived the incident received multiple stab wounds to his left side and is expected to survive.
“Complainant #1 had sustained multiple times in the torso and was pronounced [dead] at 2:45 AM; complainant #2 is listed in critical condition with stab wounds to his left arm and left side,” a statement from the Philadelphia police obtained by PEOPLE reads.
Rapper Fabolous, who worked with both men, also addressed the incident on Instagram Wednesday, sharing the same picture of the men as Minaj.
“My heart is heavy right now,” he wrote in part. “My friend @daydaydoesdis (left) died & my friend Eric Parker is in critical condition in the hospital fighting for his life. I am still in shock & don’t want to believe this. And it hurts even more knowing how good these two dudes are. How hard these guys work. And how loyal they are to whoever they are down with & each other.”
Minaj’s The Pinkprint Tour was set to launch March 16 in Stockholm, Sweden.
