Nick Carter Ordered into Alcohol Rehab

Posted on

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was ordered into a three-month alcohol treatment program on Tuesday in Orange County, Calif., after pleading guilty in Superior Court to drunk driving.

Carter, 25, who did not appear in court, was also ordered to pay $1,200 in fines and be placed on three years of informal probation, with restricted driving privileges for 90 days, said Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister, according to the Associated Press.

Carter was pulled over March 5 in downtown Huntington Beach after he pulled out of a parking structure and started driving on Main Street, the Smoking Gun Web site reported at the time.

He was arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 percent. He was released several hours later.

“Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation,” the singer’s rep said in a statement immediately after his arrest. “He is on doctor prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities.”
