Singer KT Tunstall and her new husband Luke Bullen are hoisting the mainsail and sailing to the Arctic Circle.
The newlyweds, who exchanged vows on the northern tip of Scotland’s remote Isle of Skye on Saturday, have signed up to help climate change awareness charity Cape Farewell, according to a rep for the organization.
The couple is expected to board the research vessel Grigory Mikheev on Sept. 25 in Greenland. Onboard will be an eclectic mix of around 30 people – including Lou Reed’s wife, Laurie Anderson – during a two-week expedition to Disko Bay, on Greenland’s west coast.
“It has been organized for several months,” says a Cape Farewell rep. “We are hoping that KT will be able to blog while she is on the trip.”
A highlight of the trip is expected to be a transit across the front of the massive Jakobshavn Glacier, which is estimated by Cape Farewell to be losing 20 million tons of ice every day.
According to Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, the newlyweds concluded their weekend festivities with a beach barbecue on Sunday night below the island’s picturesque Duntulm Castle Hotel.
In addition to the Greenland eco trip, according to the Mail on Sunday, the eco-couple has planned a backpack honeymoon in South America, India and New Zealand.
A rep for 33-year-old Tunstall refused to comment on her planned itinerary.
