It’s never too late to celebrate the leading lady in your life. Likewise, come Mother’s Day, it’s never too early to stir up something festive in her honor.
Whip up these mom-worthy cocktails at your Sunday brunch – and just don’t be surprised if she likes them more than that greeting card you picked out.
Al Fresca Mary
Jose Garces’s take on the staple Bloody Mary, which he’s serving up for Mother’s Day weekend at Renaissance Hotels
• 1½ oz. pepper-flavored vodka
• 3 oz. strawberry tomato juice (instructions below)
• ½ oz. balsamic syrup (instructions below)
In a mixing glass, build the first three ingredients. Shake and pour into a wine glass. Garnish with a pepperoncini and a strawberry.
Strawberry Tomato Juice
Blanch and peel 4 oz. fresh tomatoes. Add 4 oz. fresh strawberries, 4 pepperoncinis and 1 oz. water. Blend together until pureed.
• 1½ cups sugar
• ½ cup water
• 1 cup balsamic vinegar
Bring the sugar and water to a boil simmer until the sugar dissolves and turns an amber color. Simmer the vinegar in the meantime. Once the sugar syrup is ready, slowly add in the vinegar. Simmer together for about 5 minutes to thicken the syrup.

• 1 part chocolate cherry liqueur (recipe recommends John DeKuyper & Sons Crave Chocolate Cherry Liqueur)
• 3 parts sparkling rosé wine (well chilled)
Build the ingredients in order in a chilled champagne flute. Garnish with a cherry dropped in and a lemon twist.
