Verne Troyer, the 2’8″ actor famous for playing Mini-Me in the “Austin Powers” movies, has announced he will marry the 6’2″ yoga instructor Genevieve Gallen in November, according to published reports.
PEOPLE has reported that the odd couple — he’s 34 and she’s 29 — have been dating for exactly a year.
According to Britain’s Sky News, Gallen broke it off with Troyer earlier this year when she took up with a male stripper (still shorter than she is, at 6 feet). That heartbreak allegedly prompted the pint-sized leading man, who has admitted to a drinking problem, to return to the bottle. And at one low point, he flew from L.A. to New York and ended up in a strip club dancing with one of the performers, according to the news service.
Troyer subsequently underwent rehab, and friends expect his new domesticity to keep him happy and booze-free, Sky News reports.
Only a year ago, while still single, Troyer admitted to PEOPLE that he doesn’t mind the occasional pickup line — it was getting picked up that he didn’t appreciate.
“I’ve had people come up and actually pick me up out of the blue,” he said. “That gets a little annoying. I go out in public with a hat and sunglasses, but frankly it doesn’t help.”
