Posted on

FINISHED: Ewan McGregor, 33, on Thursday roared into New York City’s Battery Park on his dusty motorcycle and ended a 20,000-mile odyssey from London with fellow actor and friend Charley Boorman, reports Reuters. The Star Wars actor and Boorman took more than three months to go through Eastern Europe and the punishing terrain of Mongolia, Siberia and Alaska to shoot their TV series Long Way Round, to air Oct. 28 on Bravo. “It was a good excuse to ride motorcycles for a very, very long time,” said McGregor, sporting a bushy red beard.

INJURED: A 15-year-old riding an all-terrain vehicle at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch was hospitalized after it reportedly flipped, reports the Santa Barbara News-Press, quoting Sgt. Chris Pappas of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department. Paramedics took the boy via helicopter and ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, said a nursing supervisor. It wasn’t immediately known if Jackson was at the ranch.

ACTIVATED: Usher, 25, has his own MasterCard debit card, and he’s offering it to the public – the first-ever celebrity banking card, reports New York’s Daily News. “Usher’s got his own debit card, that’s great stuff,” the music star tells the paper. His photo on the card shows him looking serious with a diamond bling-bling in his left earlobe. The card is to be sold at concert venues for $9.95, plus a $10 activation fee.

CAST: Jay McGraw, the son of TV guru Dr. Phil McGraw, is to host a new extreme-makeover FOX reality series, Family Time, that will assist families with the help of plastic surgeons, life-coaches and construction workers, reports the New York Post. The network touts the show as “the most comprehensive makeover show ever on television,” says a rep. The younger McGraw is the author of Life Strategies for Teens and Closing the Gap: A Strategy for Bringing Parents and Teens Together.

APPEARED: Actor Anthony Anderson, 33, costar of Kangaroo Jack and the original Barbershop, made a brief court appearance in Tennessee Thursday to say he understands that he is accused of rape and has a lawyer. Anderson was accused by an unidentified woman of luring her into a trailer on the set of his latest movie, Hustle & Flow, and sexually assaulting her. Also accused is Wayne Witherspoon, an assistant director. Both Anderson and Witherspoon deny wrongdoing. They are free on $20,000 bond each.

DIED: Francis Crick, 88, who with James Watson in 1953 first described the “double-helix” structure of DNA, died Wednesday night in a San Diego hospital. Crick and Watson were two names familiar to science students for years. Their work earned them a Nobel Prize in 1962.
