The sorrowful announcement of Maya Angelou’s death on Wednesday has many celebrities looking back on how this phenomenal woman touched their lives.

Perhaps best known for her award-winning autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, the 86-year-old author influenced countless people through her graceful words, cadence of speech and civil rights activism. Even in her last days, Angelou continued to inspire many with a thought-provoking Twitter account filled with her own passionate ideas and quotes, including this final Tweet from May 23.
