In a frank appearance on Bloomberg Television Tuesday, Stewart, 72, openly wondered whether Paltrow, 41, has the domestic prowess she promotes on GOOP, the successful online lifestyle publication and shop she launched in 2008, as well as in her most recent best-selling cookbook, It’s All Good.
“I haven’t eaten at Gwyneth’s house, and I have never seen how she lives,” Stewart said. “But, if she’s authentic, all the better – and I certainly hope she is. She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business.”
Stewart, whose massive do-it-yourself empire touches on everything from cooking and gardening to crafting and entertaining, cautiously praised Paltrow but stopped short of endorsing her lifestyle brand.
“She’s a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle,” she said. “She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter – fine. Good.”
But apparently she wanted Paltrow – and the world – to remember one thing.
“I think I started this whole category of lifestyle,” she said.
No word yet on whether Paltrow agrees.
