“I am just leaving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She had twins yesterday on their 3rd anniversary. I had prayer with them and the babies,” Sharpton Tweeted Sunday. “I also conducted the renewal of their vows and the blessing of the newborn twins. Mariah looks GREAT, and the babies are beautiful.”
Before the baby boy and girl were born in L.A. on Saturday, Cannon, 30, joked on his radio show earlier in the week that he and Carey, 42, might have to renew their vows in the hospital. As it turned out, he was right.
“Yep, we just had a wedding in the hospital,” Cannon wrote on Twitter Sunday. “Thank you to @THEREVAL who came all the way to the hospital to renew me and my wife’s vows and pray with our children.”
Sharpton said he was “moved by the sincere spiritual commitment of Mariah and Nick,” and added, “They have not let success separate them from GOD. I am so proud.”
But Sharpton couldn’t stay with the couple too long. After the news broke that Osama bin Laden had been killed in a firefight with U.S. military, the Reverend wrote, “Headed 2 NY on red eye 2 discuss Bin Laden’s death on air.”
Still, he added, “Glad I came 2 LA 2 pray for @MariahCarey & @NickCannon twins & 2 renew their vows.”
