He was called to it.

Speaking to north central Wisconsin ABC affiliate WAOW, Dixon said that a few weeks ago his grandson asked him to build a snowman.

At first, the project ran into a snag when uncharacteristic warm weather descended upon the region, but a recent snowstorm allowed Dixon to complete his task.

He surprised his grandson this weekend, telling the boy – “He was expecting me to build just a regular snowman,” said Dixon – that the 4-ft.-high finished project was, in fact, “Just a little taller than you are.”

Dixon added that for his next project he is considering branching out into characters from other movies. One possibility? The Minions from Despicable Me.
