A 17-year-old almost broke the Internet this week. New Zealand songstress Lorde, real name Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor, crashed Vevo after premiering her new video for the song “Team,” according to Mashable.

Lorde’s new vid takes place in a dark, adolescent oasis constructed of cement slabs and dripping plants. Lorde shared on her Facebook page that the idea for the video came to her in a dream explaining, “I dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. And of this world, I dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger.”

With her chart-topping hit “Royals” and rumors of a Grammy nomination, Lorde doesn’t have to worry about strength in 2013. Aside from gifting fans with a new video, Lorde also shared some of her favorite songs from this year.

Her list includes head-bobbers like:
• Kanye West – “Hold My Liquor” (feat. Chief Keef and Justin Vernon)
• Daft Punk “Get Lucky” (feat. Pharrell Williams)
• Drake “Hold On, We’re Going Home
• James Blake “Overgrown
• Major Lazer “You’re No Good” (feat Santigold, Vybz Kartel, Danielle Haim and Yasmin)

Would you have guessed that Lorde is a Kayne West fan? We hope this means she’ll pull a Kimye and put her older boyfriend in the next video.
