At 20, Lindsay Lohan knows what she wants to accomplish within the next decade.
“I want to get married before I’m 30. And have my house. And make the kind of record I want. And I’d like to win an Oscar before then,” the Bobby actress says in the November issue of InStyle.
Although she’s known for going out, Lohan insists she’s a homebody at heart. “Owning a house will make me very proud. I need a place to call home, to feel it’s mine,” she says (she’s been living at L.A.’s Chateau Marmont). “I love to cook. My grandmother is Italian. I’m pretty practical. I’m a very domestic person.”
And she says her social life has been settling down since her July hospitalization. She’d overindulged at a friend’s birthday party, she says, after a day of shooting her movie Georgia Rule in the L.A. heat. “I tried to please my friend and I ended up getting sick. It’s about learning to say no more than yes. I’m a people-pleaser. But you can’t always make everyone happy.”
Right now, “I want to get myself settled,” she says. “You have to have boundaries. I need my privacy, especially if I have someone in my life romantically.”
She most recently dated restaurateur Harry Morton, who said last month they’re taking a “breather.” But Morton was seen by many of Lohan’s friends as a steadying influence. “Harry’s a great guy,” she says, “and he’s my friend, which is important.”
And Lohan, who since wrapping Georgia Rule has been working on a third album and a trip to Iraq to entertain the troops, has learned from her past romantic missteps. Her biggest mistake? “Falling in love for the first time and abusing the relationship,” she says. “I was growing. It’s the best thing that ever happened, but I wasn’t ready. I moved too fast.”
And she’s still got something to look forward to. Asked to describe her best kiss, she says, “I don’t know if I’ve had a best kiss yet ”
