Leonardo DiCaprio made a surprise visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, with his latest project in hand. And no, it wasn’t his newest blockbuster film.

This time the politically savvy actor was promoting his new public service announcement to increase voter registration. DiCaprio worked with pals Tobey Maguire, Forest Whitaker and Will.I.Am to produce the PSA, which was filmed a week and a half ago at his home.

DeGeneres opened the show and talked about receiving a call from DiCaprio inviting her to his Los Angeles home to film the commercial. “Someone bring me the DVD,” Ellen asked so she could debut it for her audience. Seconds later DiCaprio strolled out onto the set.

“This is really one of the most important elections of our life time and we really need to tell everyone we know to get out there and vote,” DiCaprio said on the show.
